Employment-Oriented

BTEC HND qualifications have their origins in the 1970s when they were developed as a response to criticisms that graduates were ‘not ready’ for the workplace. The BTEC HND was designed to include not just theory but also the application of theory to help students to be better prepared for the workplace.

Today, UIC graduates have two options for employment – to go immediately into the workplace, or continue their studies and join the workplace later. With their BTEC HND internationally-recognised qualifications, UIC graduates typically have knowledge of theories and experience of how those theories have been and can be applied. UIC graduates are always encouraged to develop a problem-solving approach and attitude.

Employers prefer graduates with the right qualifications but who are also willing to learn, equipped and motivated to help solve problems.
